The CSPC Wiki Club was formally established during the 3rd Iriga Wikimedia Meet-up, marking a significant step in promoting open knowledge, digital literacy, and Wikimedia engagement among students of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC).

The organization aims to empower students to contribute to free knowledge platforms such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikisource while developing research, writing, media, and information literacy skills. Serving as a hub for the Rinconada area, the club will encourage students to participate in workshops, edit-a-thons, photography activities, and heritage documentation projects that promote responsible digital citizenship and collaborative learning.

Abegail Albar, Administrative Aide II designated at Center for International Relations and Linkages (CIRL), will lead the newly formed Wiki club to focus on documenting the history, culture, language, and heritage of Camarines Sur, and collaborate with leaders of local and international extracurricular Wikimedia organizations. The founding members include Staybyme Bermejo Belleza, Mary Antonette Lamud, Jerry Puso and Kristine Fraginal. They will contribute content to emerging Wikimedia projects, including the Rinconada Bikol Wikipedia and Rinconada Bikol Wiktionary, helping preserve and promote local knowledge for future generations.

According to PhilWiki Community founding chair Irvin Parco Sto Tomas, the Wikimedia affiliate has been working closely with CSPC Center for Rinconada Culture and The Arts, Wikimedia volunteers, and community organizations to conduct training programs and outreach activities.

The club builds on years of collaboration between the state college and PhilWiki Community. CSPC faculty members namely Elbert Baeta and Khate Martinez, and office personnel from CRC and CIRL have participated in Wikimedia conferences, heritage documentation initiatives, and language preservation efforts.

The initiative also supports Wiki Education Philippines, PhilWiki Community’s education program that promotes the use of Wikimedia projects in teaching and learning. It aligns with the organization’s 2026–2030 Medium-Term Plan, which seeks to strengthen digital literacy, preserve Philippine languages and cultural heritage, and establish sustainable campus-based Wikimedia communities across the country.

As the newest Wikimedia-affiliated student organization supported by PhilWiki Community, the CSPC Wiki Club is expected to provide meaningful opportunities for leadership, community engagement, and open knowledge advocacy among Filipino youth.
