PhilWiki Community together with Nueva Caceres Heritage Movement Inc., United Architects of the Philippines-Camarines, and partner organizations brought heritage and open knowledge to the heart of Naga City as it joined the two-day Carless Event at Plaza Rizal in Naga City on August 15–16, 2026.
As part of the community gathering, PhilWiki Community sponsored a trivia quiz on heritage and open knowledge, engaging at least 100 participants, including young people, students, and other members of the public. The activity offered a fun and accessible way for participants to discover stories about Philippine heritage while learning about the value of freely accessible knowledge.
The Carless Weekend also provided an opportunity for PhilWiki Community volunteers and partners to connect with the wider community beyond traditional Wikimedia activities, bringing the movement’s advocacy for free knowledge into a public and lively city space.
The Naga event was held alongside PhilWiki Community’s monthly board meeting and a post-birthday celebration, combining organizational work, fellowship, and public engagement in one weekend.
Through activities such as the Carless Weekend, the Community continues to demonstrate that open knowledge can meet people where they are. On the streets, in public spaces, and within their communities.
