PARIS, France — Members of the PhilWiki Community are proudly representing the Philippines at Wikimania 2026, the annual global conference of the Wikimedia movement, being held in Paris, France from 21–25 July 2026. The event brings together Wikipedians, Wikimedians, open knowledge advocates, educators, researchers, and technology contributors from around the world to discuss the future of free knowledge and collaboration.
PhilWiki delegates Mary Joy Espiritu and Xen Merencillo are participating in conference sessions, community discussions, networking activities, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that highlight Philippine contributions to the global Wikimedia movement. Their participation strengthens international partnerships and promotes local efforts in preserving Philippine languages, culture, history, and heritage through Wikimedia projects.
This year’s Wikimania carries the theme “Liberté, Équité, Fiabilité” (Freedom, Equity, Reliability) and coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia. The conference focuses on protecting free access to knowledge, fostering equity among communities, and ensuring the reliability of information in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Through their presence at Wikimania 2026, PhilWiki Community members continue to advance the mission of making knowledge freely accessible to everyone while showcasing the vibrant contributions of Filipino Wikimedians on the global stage.
