The Wiki Education Philippines program’s primary focus is the promotion of open educational resources (OERs) within academic institutions and beyond. It also deals with promoting Wikimedia in lessons through training and tutorials, and through engagements with teachers and students in collaborative activities.
The PhilWiki Community believes that Wikipedia, among other Wikimedia projects, belongs in education, hence it engages in projects, programs, and activities that promote free, responsibly open-content resources and reference materials, through academia, among other entities.
When students of all ages contribute to Wikimedia projects as part of their learning, they gain significant 21st-century skills. By fostering a relationship between Education and the Wikimedia movement, we have the best chance to realize our goal that the sum of all knowledge will be accessible to everyone in the world for free.
One of our flagship projects is the CBSUA Wiki Education program, which envisions a university where faculty, non-teaching personnel, and students actively share knowledge with the general public by integrating Wikimedia into their instruction, research, extension, and production services. The project is in partnership with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture in Camarines Sur.
