The PhilWiki Community is proud to announce its recent success and recognition in the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) Philippines campaign led by Marvin Molin. Through the tireless efforts of dedicated members and volunteers, the group has been honored with the Best Organized Community Campaign award among 38 local campaigns.

The WPWP campaign is a global initiative that challenges editors and photographers to improve Wikipedia articles by adding relevant images. By bridging the “visual gap,” these contributions transform dense text into engaging, accessible, and high-quality educational resources for readers worldwide.

“This recognition affirms our community’s commitment to advancing free knowledge through responsible digital documentation,” said WPWP PH campaign lead Marvin Molin. “Every photo added is a step toward a more inclusive and visually rich global knowledge ecosystem.”

In addition to the organizational award, Underrepresented Language Champion, a special citation was awarded to Roderick Sumalinog. Sumalinog was recognized for his outstanding contribution of high-quality, well-captioned photographs that have significantly enhanced the clarity and visual narrative of numerous Wikipedia entries.

Building on this momentum, the PhilWiki Community expresses its sincere gratitude to the international WPWP team for their support and empowerment of local contributors.

With renewed enthusiasm, the community is already preparing for the next cycle. The 2026 WPWP PH Campaign is scheduled to return this July, and PhilWiki Community invites all photography enthusiasts and knowledge advocates to participate in documenting the Filipino story for the world.
