The search for the soul of Filipino heritage is back. We are thrilled to announce the Wiki Loves Folklore 2026 photo contest in the Philippines!
This international photography competition is your chance to document the vibrant traditions, folk dances, mythical stories, and cultural identities that make the Philippines unique. By participating, you help preserve our “intangible heritage” on Wikimedia Commons for the whole world to see.
What We’re Looking For
We want to see the Philippines in its most authentic forms. This includes, but is certainly not limited to:
- Folk Festivals: Sinulog, Dinagyang, Pahiyas, and local barangay fiestas.
- Traditional Crafts: Weaving (Abaca, Inabel), pottery, and woodcarving.
- Folk Dances & Music: From the Tinikling to indigenous ritual chants.
- Cuisine: Traditional cooking methods and heirloom recipes.
- Mythology & Folklore: Sites associated with local legends, spirits, and oral histories.

How to Join
- Capture: Take high-quality photos (or videos!) of Philippine folklore.
- Upload: Sign in to your Wikimedia Commons account (or create one).
