Wiki Loves Earth (WLE), the world’s biggest nature photography competition, is back!

Wiki Loves Earth in the Philippines is an online photography competition with the aim to promote the natural heritage sites of the Philippines through Wikimedia projects including Wikipedia. This photography competition is part of the international annual photography competition.

Last year, the entry of Mark Kineth Casindac won the 5^th prize (n the category Macro/close-up) in the international round of Wiki Loves Earth 2023.

Now on its 7th year, the Philippine edition of the competition has received over 6,000 images now available under creative commons license. Everyone, be it a newbie or expert photographer can participate in the contest.

There are only a few rules for photos to participate. Let’s quickly go through them.

1. All entries must be your own work; do not manipulate original images and make sure that there is no visible watermarks.
2.  All photos must be uploaded within June 1 to July 31, 2024 to be eligible. 
3. All photos must be licensed under CC BY-SA license.
4. Participants must have an active email account, if the organizers wish to contact.
5. Upload photos from the protected landscapes and seascapes, and natural parks in the Philippines.
6. Captions and description are required.
7. Do not forget to add categories to your picture as it will be helpful to everyone looking for your picture.
8. Make sure that you are not uploading duplicate images.

The best entries will qualify to the international round wherein jury will determine the winners taking into the consideration the following criteria, in no particular order: technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.), originality, and usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.
