The Wiki Gap campaign in the Philippines was a resounding success, with 346 new articles created to close the gender gap on Tagalog Wikipedia and Bikol Wikipedia! This initiative focuses on creating new articles about women using the Wikipedia Content Translation Tool, amplifying their representation and contributions.
With 18 individuals coming together to make a difference, the campaign was a remarkable effort which led to the improvement of 405 articles focusing on women and related topics.
Wiki Women Filipinas program chair Maria Glenda Perico-Brioso have played an important role in organizing the activity. The campaign has not only enriched the content available but has also fostered a more inclusive and diverse online community.
PhilWiki Community has been actively participating in the global campaign since 2019 held during the celebration of women’s month in March. Such initiatives serve as inspiring examples of how small acts can lead to significant change, amplifying the voices and stories that deserve to be heard.
