The exciting and enriching experience of the WikiQuest: Journey through the World of Wikis was truly a remarkable event for the twenty-two senior high students from the Cararayan National High School.
The fun-filled activity further illustrates the dedication of the school in fostering an environment that encourages exploration, learning, and active participation in valuable educational initiatives.
Marife Altabano, the Wiki Edu Philippines program chair, and her colleagues at CNHS facilitated the various tasks which included fixing grammatical and typographical errors on Wikipedia, adding images into suitable categories on Wikimedia Commons, transcribing and proofreading pages on Wikisource, and more.
The interactive nature of the activity, designed to engage and educate, allowed the students to delve into the world of wikis, gaining practical knowledge and skills as they completed various challenges. This collaborative effort not only contributed to the improvement of the content but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility among the participants.
Held last April 6, the event served as an inspiring platform for the students to explore the vast opportunities within the realm of digital knowledge sharing, empowering them with valuable insights and experiences that will undoubtedly benefit their academic and personal growth.
All participants are members of CNHS Wiki Club, the pilot extra-curricular organization for high school students in Naga City formed in 2023. The club will welcome interested Grade 11 and junior high school students starting next school year.
